We cannot expect 21st-century outcomes by educating students in 19th-century buildings. It simply will not work. You can witness the excitement and understanding of change in the children pictured here today.
Examining the similarities between the current path of Ghana and the incredible economic and educational evolution of South Korea, Dr. Adutwum offered a reflective comment that sparked deep thinking.
The narrative of South Korea is incredibly intriguing. In 1960, our per capita income was higher than that of South Korea, but when they made the decision to extend secondary education to their citizens in the 1960s and 1970s, they took a different approach. In addition, they also began to focus on STEM education in the 1970s.
Although we are 50 years behind, we have made a start, and the evidence will show the beginnings of the STEM transformation.
Dr Adutwum emphasized that the commissioning of the 80 schools is a crucial step in the efforts to improve Ghana’s education system.
