The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament, has directed the Ghana Education Service (GES) to look into allegations of illegal self-promotion by eighteen teachers in the Amansie Central area, who evaded the GES’s set protocols.
According to a report from the Amansie Central Education Directorate, these teachers upgraded their positions without the necessary documentation, resulting in an estimated financial loss of GH¢188,000 to the state.
The District Education Director, Vincent Ben Ameyaw, revealed that GH¢34,000 has been recovered so far.
“We did not place [promote those teachers], they did self-upgrading without passing through the office. So it is a backdoor affair.”
