The Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Right Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, announced that the ‘Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill,’ which has been passed by Parliament and is awaiting the President’s approval, will come into effect by God’s grace.
He made this statement on the night of Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Black Star Square in Accra during the Greater Accra Unleashed Crusade organized by The Church of Pentecost.
During his speech, the Speaker expressed gratitude to The Church of Pentecost for their significant contributions to national development and the guidance they provided to Parliament during the discussion of the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill.
He highlighted the critical role of families in building a strong nation, stating, ‘You cannot build a nation without families.’
The Speaker emphasized the responsibility of leaders to uphold proper values, especially when the family system is weakening. He explained that this is why Members of Parliament, with his support, passed the anti-gay bill. He also noted that the other branches of government must show leadership in bringing this important bill into action.
Right Hon. Bagbin, known for his Christian beliefs, confidently stated that despite the challenges the bill faces, it will eventually become law, saying, ‘When God says yes, nobody can say no. It will happen.’
