Nine mining companies are suing the Paramount Chief of Ati-Morkwa for galamsey activities

Oseadeeyo Kwesi Kennin IV, the Paramount Chief of the Atti-Morkwa Traditional Area in the Central Region, is currently facing legal action for his suspected participation in illegal mining. Additionally, he has been served with a new lawsuit.

Nine more mining companies have filed a lawsuit against the Chief, claiming that he is involved in illegal mining activities on their territories.

The companies claim that the Chief has unlawfully entered their mining lands, adding to the legal challenges he is currently dealing with.

Oseadeeyo Kwesi Kennin IV was previously sued by Kadesh Mining Enterprise for reportedly conducting unauthorized mining activities on their concession in the Central Region.

This latest legal move only adds to his already complex legal woes.

The Chief and his workers are being taken to court by nine mining companies in order to prevent them from encroaching on their concessions.

They are also asking the court to mandate the restoration and reclamation of already mined areas.

During the court session on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, the presiding judge, His Lordship Samuel Faraday Johnson, adjourned the hearing to October 28, 2024.

The judge stated that he is currently waiting for a decision from the Kumasi High Court about where the lawsuit between Kadesh Mining Enterprise and the Paramount Chief will be tried.
