The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has reported a tax collection of approximately GH₵41 billion in the first quarter of the year, exceeding its target of GH₵39 billion.
Anthony Sarpong, the Acting Commissioner-General of the GRA, praised the performance across various regions, noting that some regions surpassed their expectations.
“The overall tax performance for the country has been remarkable. The Ashanti Region, in particular, has exceeded the target set for them,” Sarpong stated.
He stressed the importance of continued efforts to achieve the national target by the year’s end.
“I have already communicated to them that this is just the beginning, and I expect that, as we have succeeded in the first quarter, they will also perform well in the upcoming quarters to meet the national goal,” he added.
Emphasizing the significance of this achievement, Sarpong remarked, “The budget allocated GH₵39 billion for the first quarter, but I am pleased to report that we collected GH₵41 billion.”
