President John Dramani Mahama has advocated for the enhancement of the Ghana-EU partnership, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing mutually beneficial trade and investment over reliance on aid alone.
He highlighted that the European Union (EU) is one of Ghana’s key partners in trade and investment.
H.E. President Mahama further stated that Ghana will persist in implementing necessary measures to foster development within the country, aiming to establish itself as a digital hub in Africa while reinforcing democratic governance and upholding the rule of law.
This statement was made during the 2026 Ghana-European Union Partnership Dialogue, which is currently taking place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Accra.
The purpose of the Dialogue is to assess the Ghana-European Union relationship and to outline future directions.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who presented the opening remarks, expressed confidence that Ghana and the European Union will continue to enhance their partnership and achieve even greater advancements as the year unfolds.
