NIA will travel to five European cities for the first phase of registration: Berlin, Amsterdam, Rome, Brussels, and Paris.

Easier registration process

The NIA has made it easier for Ghanaians living abroad to register for the Ghana Card. They can now start the registration process online by filling forms, paying fees, and scheduling appointments from home. After that, applicants need to visit the Ghanaian mission for biometric capture.

This system provides flexibility and convenience for Ghanaians living overseas.

Requirements and qualifications needed

Registration is open to individuals six years of age and older, with valid Ghanaian passports and birth certificates.

Applicants can finish the process by vouching if they don’t have these documents.

People who have given up their Ghanaian citizenship or who are not Ghanaian spouses cannot get the card.

People who hold citizenship in two countries and can provide evidence of their Ghanaian ancestry can also apply.

This initiative fulfils NIA’s mandate to register all Ghanaians in Ghana and overseas.
