The Supreme Court has once again postponed the hearing regarding the application that seeks to prevent the President and the Council of State from deciding if there is a prima facie case in the petitions aimed at the removal of the Chief Justice.
One of the five Justices involved in the case, His Lordship Samuel Asiedu, was not present when the case was called. The presiding Judge, Her Ladyship Henrietta Mensah Bonsu, stated that they encountered issues that necessitated the adjournment for unavoidable reasons.
Consequently, the case has been rescheduled for May 6.
In the meantime, Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine has dismissed requests for President John Dramani Mahama to pause proceedings regarding the determination of a prima facie case concerning the petitions for the Chief Justice’s removal.
This response follows a statement from Godfred Yeboah Dame, the attorney representing the plaintiffs, who argued that the injunction filed requires the President to suspend all proceedings related to the petition.
In a press interview on Wednesday, April 16, after the court session, Dr. Dominic Ayine contended that the President cannot be restricted from fulfilling his constitutional responsibilities.
