Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged factions within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to unite and support the flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
He emphasized that unity is essential for the NPP’s success and called on all individuals elected as national executives to foster cohesion among the party members.
Mr. Akufo-Addo made these remarks during a courtesy visit from Dennis Miracles Aboagye, a candidate for the Director of Communications position in the upcoming internal elections, on Wednesday, August 26, in Accra.
In his remarks, Mr. Akufo-Addo stated, “Elections create competition; when the decision is made on October 1, I am confident you will emerge victorious. It is crucial to bring everyone together and unify all factions within the party behind our flagbearer to ensure his success in 2029. I wish you the best, and I am optimistic that on October 1, I will receive positive news; I will be in Kumasi.”
He further remarked, “You are undertaking one of the most demanding roles in our campaign, the communications sector.
“To a significant degree, our success will hinge on the efforts you will put forth, so I am pleased that someone of your caliber and dedication has chosen to accept this challenge. You face a substantial task ahead of you.
“This challenge is intensified by the fact that in 2028, regardless of circumstances, we must secure victory in this election, so the opportunity lies in 2028; let us seize it and ensure that the NPP returns to power.
The NPP is set to hold elections for its national executives on October 3, as part of its preparations for the upcoming 2028 general elections.
The National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) of the NPP announced that a total of 50 nomination forms have been acquired for the party’s 2026 National Officers Elections.
