Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has praised the ‘One Million Coders Programme’ as a groundbreaking initiative designed to transform Ghana’s economy and promote innovation.
During the launch of the programme in Accra on Wednesday, April 16, Sam George highlighted its importance, noting that it aligns with the government’s 120-day social contract and underscores President Mahama’s dedication to advancing digital transformation.
“This initiative is taking place within the 120-day social contract timeframe, demonstrating the commitment and focus of His Excellency the President,” he remarked.
The Minister characterized the programme as a significant move towards creating a Ghana that flourishes through opportunities, innovation, and shared prosperity.
He emphasized that the initiative extends beyond mere coding; it embodies a comprehensive vision to redirect the nation’s economic path.
“This is a call to action aimed at transforming our economy, generating sustainable employment, and making substantial investments in our people,” George stated, encouraging stakeholders to back the initiative.
The One Million Coders Programme aims to equip young Ghanaians with skills in coding, artificial intelligence, and digital technology, preparing them to compete in the global digital marketplace. The government has collaborated with key partners, including MTN Ghana, to ensure the programme’s success.
Focusing on Ghana’s digital future, the initiative is anticipated to empower the youth, create job opportunities, and foster technological progress, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to innovation and economic development.
