The government has officially inaugurated the One Million Coders Programme, a bold national initiative designed to equip one million Ghanaians with coding and digital skills, thereby fostering innovation, generating employment, and facilitating economic transformation.
The launch event took place in Accra and at various satellite locations on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, gathering key stakeholders from the technology sector, government bodies, and development partners to celebrate the commencement of what is anticipated to be a transformative digital empowerment initiative.
During the ceremony, the Minister for Communications, Digital Innovation and Technologies, Sam Nartey George, emphasized the significance of this initiative in shaping the digital landscape of Ghana.
“We are at a pivotal juncture in Ghana’s digital evolution. This moment is not only essential but also urgent. It is a call to action to revitalize our economy, create sustainable employment opportunities, and make substantial investments in our citizens.
“We must leverage Science, Innovation, and Technology, not merely as concepts but as instruments for inclusive growth, and the One Million Coders Programme is specifically designed to achieve this,” he remarked.
