President John Dramani Mahama has characterized the recently inaugurated One Million Coders Programme as a pivotal initiative for Ghana’s evolution into a digital economy, signifying the nation’s ambition to take a leading role in the global technology arena.
During the official launch of the programme on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, President Mahama highlighted the initiative’s strategic significance, which aims to equip one million Ghanaians with essential digital and coding skills in the years ahead.
“We are not merely initiating a programme; we are establishing the groundwork for a blue economy. We are boldly proclaiming that Ghana is prepared to take the lead in the digital era,” he remarked.
The president pointed out that this programme transcends a mere campaign promise; it is an essential element of the government’s comprehensive Reset Ghana Agenda, which aims to reposition the nation for inclusive, innovation-driven growth.
“We are conveying to our youth, our communities, and the global audience that the future is upon us, and we intend to play a significant role in shaping it.
“This is not just a promise kept; it is a strategic cornerstone of our Reset Ghana Agenda, aimed at equipping Ghanaians with vital digital skills necessary for thriving in the 21st century,” he concluded.
