Ghanaian students pursuing undergraduate, master’s, and PhD degrees in Hungary have raised significant concerns regarding the non-payment of allowances that have been overdue for 11 months.
The students have expressed considerable distress over the lack of payment for their stipends and book allowances, which have accumulated over two academic years.
They reported that their efforts to reach out to the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat have been unsuccessful. In a statement issued on Monday, April 21st, the students lamented, ‘This persistent financial neglect has created a crisis that threatens our education, well-being, and future opportunities.
Efforts by student leaders to engage with government officials at the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat for urgent solutions have not produced any results.
Consequently, many students are now facing severe hardships.’ They are urgently requesting government intervention. ‘We earnestly hope that the government and other relevant stakeholders will respond to this urgent appeal for assistance before further disasters unfold.’
