The Institute for Liberty and Policy Innovation-Ghana (ILAPI-GHANA) is questioning Government officials travel without using government travel regulations if such exist. According to ILAPI-GHANA, the GTRA will create units in all government agencies so public officials traveling on taxes would be on one common platform for travel claims in accordance with administrative procedures prescribed by law.
In a statement issued on Monday November 8th 2021, ILAPI said “such a common platform should be An E-Gov Travel Service and Every State Agency should also have an agency Travel Management Service (TMS) to provide for travel arrangements”.
It said, the Travel Management Divisions would provide data on total travels made by government officials in a year who fed on taxpayers contributions.
“Government officials will be liable for any Government expenditure that is caused by negligence so we could protect the public purse”.
whiles, Government officials without an approved exception under the law Will be responsible for any additional costs resulting from the failure to use the the E-Gov Travel Service, including service fees, cancel- lation penalties, or other additional costs (e.g., higher airfares, hotel rates, shuttle, feeding etc).
So much money is going waste through government delegation travels. Parliament must act now!
