The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has rejected the calls for the dismissal of Black Stars coach Otto Addo, labeling them as inappropriate and poorly timed.
He contended that Otto Addo is still the most suitable individual to lead and prepare Ghana’s national football team for the forthcoming FIFA World Cup in the United States.
While addressing Parliament on Friday, October 24, Kwakye Ofosu warned against making rash decisions that could jeopardize the team’s stability and development.
“There have been demands for the removal of the coach who has guided us through this qualification journey. I find these demands to be regrettable and misplaced, as the individual who led us to qualification is ideally positioned to prepare the team for the competition itself,” he stated.
He further elaborated that national teams have a limited timeframe to regroup and train prior to significant tournaments, emphasizing that a change in leadership at this juncture would be detrimental.
“It would be a grave error to dismiss the coach and appoint a new individual who would have minimal time to prepare the team,” Kwakye Ofosu remarked.
