The Press Secretary for the Education Minister, Hashmin Mohammed, has declared that the operations at the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) resolution centres will be extended until Friday, September 18, in order to address pending placement issues.
These centres, which are located throughout the country, will continue to operate from Monday to Friday as the Ministry strives to resolve cases concerning students who have not yet been placed in schools.
Mr. Mohammed reported that of the 53,887 students initially categorized under self-placement, 33,726 have successfully secured placements in various educational institutions.
He further noted that the CSSPS Secretariat has received 9,948 cases at resolution centres across the nation, with 4,531 of these cases having been resolved.
The Press Secretary conveyed the Ministry’s hope of significantly decreasing the number of unresolved cases before the students return to school.
“The resolution centres will be operational from Monday to Friday, and we anticipate that by Friday, the numbers will decrease, as students are expected to report to school on September 18,” he stated during an interview with JoyNews.
This extension comes in light of the Education Ministry’s previous decision to permit students who were not placed during the initial placement process to utilize the self-placement option to choose schools with available openings.
