The Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has informed Parliament that substantial progress has been made in establishing the Government’s proposed Women’s Bank Project.
In response to inquiries from the Member of Parliament for Techiman South, Martin Kweku Adjei-Mensah Korsah, regarding the timeline for the rollout of the Women’s Bank Project, which has been allocated GH¢50 million in the 2025 Budget, the Deputy Minister revealed that a total of GH¢51.3 million has been designated for this initiative, with an additional GH¢450 million set aside in the 2026 Budget.
He also updated the House that all preparatory work has been finalized and that WDB GH Ltd was officially incorporated on January 26, 2026.
Furthermore, he stated that the government has submitted an application to the Bank of Ghana for the required operating license.
The Deputy Minister, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman, assured Parliament that the Finance Minister will present a detailed update on the project during the Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review scheduled for July.
