President John Dramani Mahama has officially signed 10 Bills that were passed by Parliament during the Second Meeting of the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament, thereby enacting a series of legislative reforms related to taxation, revenue generation, justice administration, national defense, maritime regulation, and the cocoa industry.
These 10 Bills were part of 12 legislative measures approved by Parliament during the session, which concluded on July 31, 2026.
The presidential signature formally converts the approved bills into laws, allowing the relevant institutions and agencies to commence the implementation of the provisions outlined in the new legislation.
The newly enacted laws include the Customs Act, 2026; Community Service Act, 2026; Tribunals Act, 2026; Maritime and Related Offences Act, 2026; National Defence University, Ghana Act, 2026; Income Tax (Amendment) Act, 2026; Energy Sector Levies (Amendment) Act, 2026; Ghana Cocoa Board Act, 2026; Value Added Tax (Amendment) Act, 2026; and Excise Act, 2026.
This legislation spans a wide array of sectors and is anticipated to impact government revenue, taxation, trade, justice delivery, national security, and the regulation of significant economic activities.
The Income Tax (Amendment) Act, 2026, Value Added Tax (Amendment) Act, 2026, Excise Act, 2026, and Energy Sector Levies (Amendment) Act, 2026 are projected to shape Ghana’s strategy regarding taxation and revenue collection.
