The two cases involving the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, commonly referred to as Chairman Wontumi, have been rescheduled to November 12 and December 4, respectively.
In the initial case, which pertains to allegations that he allowed mining operations on his concession at Samreboi without the necessary approval, the proceedings were postponed to November 12.
This adjournment was made following a request from the prosecution to provide the defense with essential disclosures.
The second case, in which Wontumi faces accusations of conducting mining activities within the Tano Nimire Forest Reserve without proper authorization, was delayed due to the presiding judge being on leave.
In the meantime, the Attorney General has officially terminated the case against the fourth accused, Edward Akuoko, who is the General Manager of Akonta Mining — a company owned by Chairman Wontumi.
This decision comes after it was determined that Mr. Akuoko would serve as a prosecution witness.
