The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has heightened its initiatives to address the escalating issue of examination malpractice, as offenders increasingly utilize advanced technology to engage in dishonest practices.
With the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) approaching in three months, WAEC has voiced significant apprehension regarding organized cheating operations, some of which allegedly involve entire educational institutions in deliberate misconduct.
The Council has indicated that these unethical behaviors, often enabled by students, educational authorities, and even reliable partners, represent a substantial threat to the credibility and integrity of the examination system.
In response, WAEC has organized a high-level meeting with stakeholders, uniting essential figures in the education sector to formulate effective, forward-thinking strategies to tackle this issue.
John Kapi, the Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, recognized the magnitude of the challenge.
