The family of the late former Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, is set to conduct the 13th Commemorative Adua in his memory on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at No. 4 Switchback Road, Cantonments, commencing at 9:00 a.m.
This solemn Islamic prayer service will gather family members, political leaders, friends, and members of the Muslim community to honor and pray for the late statesman, who dedicated himself to serving Ghana with humility, discipline, and a commitment to national unity.
The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, will serve as the Special Guest for the event. He will lead the prayers and offer a message of reflection, peace, and faith. Numerous dignitaries from both government and opposition parties, as well as traditional leaders, are anticipated to be present, highlighting the late Vice President’s lasting influence and respect across party lines.
The Adua — an important Islamic rite commemorating the deceased — will pay tribute to Alhaji Aliu Mahama’s legacy as a leader who advocated for discipline and nation-building throughout his public service.
Alhaji Aliu Mahama held the position of Vice President of the Republic of Ghana from January 7, 2001, to January 7, 2009, during the tenure of former President John Agyekum Kufuor. Until his death in November 2012, he was widely recognized as a paragon of integrity and patriotism, inspiring future generations with his dedication to service and national development.
The commemoration is anticipated to emphasize his contributions to public service, his promotion of discipline among the youth, and his profound commitment to fostering harmony and tolerance within Ghana’s diverse society.
