The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, has publicly apologized following significant criticism regarding a cash donation he made to Patricia Oduro Koranteng, also known as Nana Agradaa, a former fetish priestess who has transitioned to evangelism.
This apology was prompted by a video on social media, depicting Mr. Gyamfi presenting dollars to Nana Agradaa at an event. The act drew disapproval from the public and political supporters, many of whom were disheartened by his connection to such a controversial figure.
In a Facebook statement on May 11, Mr. Gyamfi characterized the donation as a ‘private act of kindness’ and acknowledged that he did not foresee it becoming public knowledge.
He referred to the incident as ‘unfortunate and regrettable’ and offered a sincere apology to those who were offended by his actions. ‘I genuinely believed I was performing this act of kindness privately and never expected it to enter the public domain,’ he stated.
‘To all those affected, I am truly sorry for this regrettable lapse in judgment. I value and respect your opinions.’ Mr. Gyamfi further emphasized that the gesture was not driven by political motives but was instead aligned with his personal commitment to assist those in need.
He reiterated his dedication to public service, expressing, “My perspective on holding public office as an honor to serve the community, address challenges, and assist others remains unchanged. I continue to concentrate on the responsibilities assigned to me by His Excellency, the President, for the advancement of our nation.”
He expressed gratitude to those who provided guidance and support and extended warm wishes to all mothers on the occasion of Mother’s Day.
I have observed the recent surge of criticism directed towards me over the past 24 hours. To clarify, my actions were intended as a simple act of kindness towards another individual, consistent with my lifelong commitment to assisting those in need.
I genuinely believed that this gesture would remain private and did not foresee it becoming a matter of public discussion, which I find unfortunate and regrettable.
I acknowledge the strong reactions this has elicited, especially from comrades who feel genuinely hurt by it. To those individuals, I extend my sincere apologies for this regrettable lapse in judgment.
I value and respect your perspectives. I am deeply grateful to those who have offered their support and encouragement during this time. I want to reaffirm that I view public service as a privilege to contribute to society, address challenges, and assist others.
My commitment to the responsibilities assigned to me by His Excellency, the President, for the advancement of our nation remains steadfast. Wishing you all a blessed and joyful Sunday. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers present.
