The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has declared the allocation of GH¢550 million to healthcare facilities for the settlement of claims.
The Authority noted that the recent removal of caps on NHIA funding is anticipated to enhance the timely processing of claims in the future.
Dr. Victor Bampoe, the Chief Executive Officer of the NHIA, conveyed a positive outlook regarding the program’s future.
“The President has directed the Finance Minister to ensure the release of funds accumulated for the National Health Insurance Scheme within 30 days. We anticipate receiving funds more consistently, allowing us to compensate service providers without delay,” he remarked.
In addition, the NHIA has announced plans to broaden its free dialysis program to increase access to essential treatment for renal patients throughout the nation.
As part of this initiative, the NHIA will acquire more dialysis machines and necessary supplies for healthcare facilities across the country.
This expansion aligns with the government’s comprehensive strategy to enhance access to vital healthcare services.
Dr. Victor Bampoe further explained that the program aims to incorporate a greater number of patients with kidney ailments into the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
