Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Sam Nartey George, has announced that the government is close to finalizing a significant agreement with an international partner, which will involve an investment of nearly $1 billion in Ghana’s IT infrastructure.
In a recent interview, Sam George indicated that this deal, anticipated to be revealed in the upcoming weeks, will greatly improve Ghana’s digital landscape and generate job opportunities.
“In the next few weeks, we will be announcing a landmark agreement with a country that is set to invest close to a billion dollars in Ghana’s IT infrastructure, fostering the necessary collaboration to create jobs,” he remarked.
The Minister also emphasized the government’s dedication to developing a digitally proficient workforce, especially in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).
He pointed out ongoing programs such as the One Million Coders Programme, which aims to equip young Ghanaians with the skills and knowledge essential for thriving in a technology-oriented economy.
According to George, this initiative is part of a larger strategy to establish Ghana as a center for digital innovation and talent cultivation in Africa.
