The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has released a directive mandating that all mining and construction equipment must be officially transferred to the new owner within 14 days of sale, in accordance with current legislation.
In a press release dated June 17, 2025, the Authority emphasized that non-compliance could lead to legal repercussions and additional penalties.
“The Authority wishes to inform all dealers and owners of mining and construction equipment that it is obligatory to notify the Authority of any change in ownership of such equipment within fourteen (14) days following the sale,” the statement indicated.
The DVLA expressed concern regarding the prevalent failure among individuals and businesses to register changes in ownership, labeling it as a significant regulatory and operational issue.
As a result, the Authority is urging all stakeholders in the mining and construction industries to ensure that equipment ownership transfers are executed promptly and correctly.
The DVLA warned that those who violate this directive will face legal consequences.
“All dealers and owners of mining and construction equipment are encouraged to visit the nearest DVLA office to facilitate the transfer of ownership,” the release noted.
The Authority reiterated its commitment to enforcing the law and providing effective services to enhance Ghana’s transport and equipment oversight systems.
This directive is part of the DVLA’s broader initiative to streamline equipment registration and bolster enforcement for improved regulation and safety compliance.
