Desmond Ofei, the head coach of the Black Satellites, has cautioned his players against becoming complacent as they gear up for a crucial group-stage match against the Central African Republic (CAR) in the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Ghana is set to compete against CAR this afternoon at the Suez Canal Stadium, with the match commencing at 15:00 GMT.
“A favorable outcome is essential for our qualification. This match is akin to a final for us, and we are approaching it with the seriousness it warrants.”
The assistant coach of the Black Stars recognized the challenges posed by CAR, labeling them as a “very enterprising team” with a reliable scoring history throughout the tournament.
“We cannot afford to underestimate a diligent team like CAR.
They have demonstrated their ability to challenge opponents, so we must stay focused and composed,” he warned.
Despite the formidable task ahead, Ofei conveyed confidence in his team’s preparedness, highlighting that the technical staff has developed a robust game strategy.
“Our team is ready. We have refined our approach, and now it is about executing it effectively on the field.”
Currently, Ghana occupies the second position in Group C with four points and requires at least a draw to keep their hopes alive for advancement to the knockout rounds.
