President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has earnestly urged Ghanaians to maintain peace during the forthcoming elections scheduled for December 7. He highlighted the significance of safeguarding Ghana’s hard-won democratic values, which he referred to as a national asset that must be defended at all costs.
During a Thanksgiving service at the Cathedral Anglican Church in Accra, which marked the commencement of his three-day tour of the Greater Accra Region, President Akufo-Addo reiterated his appeal for a peaceful electoral process. He called upon all citizens to ensure that the elections are conducted in a manner that reflects the nation’s dedication to democracy.
“My message today is straightforward: globally, when discussions arise regarding Africa and democracy, Ghana is often cited as the exemplary model of democratic governance on our continent.
“On Saturday December 7, we will have yet another opportunity, the ninth consecutive occasion, to showcase to the world our understanding of democratic governance.
“Every four years, the populace is given the chance to choose their leaders and representatives. This process will take place again this Saturday.
“I implore all stakeholders, including the Electoral Commission, security forces, and the government, to ensure that all necessary arrangements are in place for a peaceful and orderly election. I urge you to guarantee that the events of next Saturday are indeed peaceful, free, and fair.”
