The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has identified the Ghana Trade Fair Convention and Exhibition Centre as a significant development for the creative arts sector, aiming to improve upon the longstanding issue of insufficient event seating capacity.
The ongoing project is anticipated to be finished within eight months, with a 20,000-seat capacity and a 5,000-square-metre pre-event lobby.
During a visit to the construction site on November 25, Dr. Bawumia praised the center as a ground-breaking project intended to alleviate pressure on the creative arts industry and improve its ability to host events.
This project is essential because we see Tourism and the Creative Arts as key pillars for the growth of the economy. Bringing an artist to play for a capacity of 3,000 people necessitates charging significantly higher prices to cover the costs incurred.
Subsequently, the price of admission for events and performances is typically elevated as a result. As a result, they do not generate the necessary income or earnings for their companies. With this 20,000 capacity Exhibition Centre in Ghana, the possibilities for Creative Arts and Tourism are endless. This larger venue offers a greater opportunity for hosting conferences and exhibitions, creating a whole new avenue for growth and development in the country.
There is a large market for it. I want to reassure the Creative Arts Industry that once this project is finished, we will have a world-class product for you in just 8 months.
Meanwhile, Dr. Dr. Agnes Adu, who heads the Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited, stated that the center is expected to be completed within the next eight months. The Centre currently undergoing intensive construction is expected to be completed within the next 6 to 8 months.
