The Ghana Education Service (GES) in the Ahafo Region has initiated an investigation into a reported sexual incident involving a security officer at Mim Senior High School and a female student.
This situation has raised concerns within the Mim community, following claims that the security officer approached the student and solicited her to engage in sexual relations with him.
The allegations reportedly incited a furious response from some local youth, who are said to have assaulted the security officer in the aftermath of the incident.
In response, authorities have launched an investigation to clarify the events that transpired between the security officer and the student, as well as to ascertain whether any misconduct took place.
Samuel Jatong Larri, the Asunafo North Municipal Director of the Ghana Education Service, confirmed that the Service is addressing the issue and has already conducted interviews with both the security officer and the female student as part of the investigation.
He stated that the student was interviewed in the presence of her parents to ensure that her account of the incident was accurately recorded and that necessary precautions were taken during the process.
Mr. Larri elaborated that the purpose of the investigation is to provide the GES with a comprehensive understanding of the circumstances surrounding the allegation before any decisions are made.
“We interviewed the security officer. We also interviewed the girl involved in the presence of her mother and father. The security officer provided his account, and the girl did the same.
“We are compiling the reports… which will be submitted to the regional director. In situations like this, the girl is our primary concern. We are focused on ensuring her protection regarding any psychological trauma she may be experiencing.”
