Sarah Adwoa Safo has publicly expressed her endorsement of her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, commonly referred to as Akofena, recognizing him as the leader of the Kantanka family and the Kristo Asafo Church.
Through a statement released on Thursday, October 8, 2026, the former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament indicated that this decision was designed to foster family cohesion, facilitate reconciliation, and safeguard the legacy of their deceased father, Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo.
“I have embraced the approach of reconciliation, grounded in affection, reciprocal regard, and the steadfast, uncontested ties of kinship. I hold profound affection and esteem for my brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, and in accordance with honoring our father’s aspirations, I formally recognize and accept him as the Leader of the Kantanka Family and the Kristo Asafo Church,” Adwoa Safo declared.
She demonstrated her commitment to collaborating with Akofena and her remaining siblings to realize their father’s objectives, encouraging the family to resolve the disagreements that surfaced following his passing.
“The moment has arrived for our family to move beyond any divisions, misinterpretations, or disputes that may have marked the period immediately following our beloved father’s death and consign them to the past,” she remarked.
This recent occurrence comes subsequent to prolonged disputes regarding the leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission following Apostle Kwadwo Safo’s death in September 2025.
In June, the deceased Apostle’s family rejected Akofena’s assertion regarding the leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission, maintaining that the succession protocol established by the founder remained in effect.
The family simultaneously acknowledged Adwoa Safo as the officially recognized Head of the Kwadwo Safo Family and primary advocate for the family’s concerns.
Adwoa Safo has subsequently urged adherents of the Kristo Asafo Church and members of the broader Kantanka family to honor the reinvigorated dedication to harmony.
“Our father’s contribution extends beyond any single person. It constitutes a shared bequest and a significant obligation bestowed upon us, as his offspring,” she concluded.
