President John Dramani Mahama has tasked the newly inaugurated Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy (PAGE) with the responsibility of prioritizing evidence-based analysis and independent advice in fulfilling its mandate.
During the inaugural ceremony held on Wednesday, February 11, the President highlighted the importance of objective and data-driven policy guidance as the nation works towards its economic recovery.
He instructed PAGE to suggest policy modifications when necessary and to offer expert insights into Ghana’s economic discussions and interactions with bilateral and multilateral partners, international financial institutions, and investors.
President Mahama also directed that the advisory group report directly to him, providing advisory memoranda, briefs, and strategic reviews as needed. He emphasized that their advice should be rooted in the long-term national interest.
“Your advice is expected to be candid, independent, and based on evidence,” the President remarked, stressing that effective economic management relies on honest evaluations and strategic foresight.
The establishment of PAGE is anticipated to enhance economic governance by delivering high-level advisory support to the Presidency regarding essential fiscal and structural reforms.
