Wilbert Petty Brentum, the Western North Regional Minister, has announced that all five major roads currently under construction as part of the government’s Big Push initiative in the Western North Region are anticipated to be upgraded to asphalt standards.
During an inspection of the Akontombra–Dadieso Road alongside officials from the Ghana Highways Authority and the Department of Roads and Highways, the Minister indicated that the Pekyi Junction–Kudjour Road has already been classified as an asphalt road. He further mentioned that the Enchi–Elubo Road is also being developed to meet asphalt standards.
The Minister stated that he is collaborating closely with the Minister for Roads and Highways to ensure that all five roads included in the Big Push programme are upgraded to asphalt standards, thereby establishing a consistent and durable road network throughout the region. He also praised the various contractors for the high quality of work being executed on these projects.
Joseph Appiah, the District Chief Executive for Akontombra, commended Kingspork Construction for their excellent work on the Akontombra–Dadieso Road project.
He remarked that once completed, the road will greatly enhance transportation and stimulate economic activities within the district.
Vasco Obour, the District Chief Executive for Suaman, also expressed confidence in the project’s progress, noting that the contractor’s performance has been commendable.
He urged the contractor to sustain the current work pace, emphasizing that the completion of the road will facilitate travel between the Suaman and Akontombra districts, while also fostering trade and economic development in the region.
