Students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) will on Thursday August 5, 2021 go to polls to select a new executive body for the 2021/2022 academic year.
A statement signed by the Electoral Commissioner of the KNUST Students Representative Council, Obeng Emmanuel Awuah Gyimah urged all students to take note of the announcement. He added that a final display of all aspirants would be available soon.
THE KNUST SRC ELECTORAL COMMISSION WOULD LIKE TO INFORM THE GENERAL STUDENT BODY THAT THE MAIN SRC ELECTIONS WOULD COME OFF ON THURSDAY 5TH AUGUST 2021. ALL ASPIRANTS AND STUDENTS ARE TO TAKE NOTE OF THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION. THE FINAL DISPLAY OF ASPIRTANTS WOULD BE MADE AVAILABLE SOON.” THE STATEMENT SAID.
Students were advised to be of good behaviour through out the entire electoral process and adhere to the COVID-19 safety protocols.

THE COMMISSION ENTREATS ALL STUDENTS TO REMAIN COMMITTED, DEMONSTRATE A GREAT SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY AND BE MINDFUL OF THEIR OWN SECURITY. STAY SAFE AND OBSERVE ALL COVID-19 PROTOCOLS.” IT ADDED.

Management suspends SRC elections following vetting controversy
Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) earlier suspended the upcoming Students Representative Council elections following an incident that took place at the Great Hall of the University involving members from the Unity Hall, popularly known as Conti, and the University Hall (Katanga).
The vetting of aspirants for this year’s Student Representative Council (SRC) elections at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology went south as members of the two halls clashed on Saturday, July 3, 2021.
The clash resulted in the injury of some students and the destruction of some school properties.
The Deputy Registrar of the University Relations Office at KNUST, Dr. Daniel Bekoe in a press release on Sunday, July 4, 2021, stated that all activities leading to the 2021 SRC elections were suspended with immediate effect.
The press release further stated that during the incident, one student sustained some minor injuries in his palm from a broken bottle.
Additionally, the incident resulted in the destruction of some chairs, glass doors, and flower pots at the Great Hall.
Management of the University then set up a committee to, within three weeks, probe into an incident and bring the culprits to justice.
