A 27-year-old Senior High School graduate, Kweku Twia, has been apprehended by the Twifo Atti Morkwa District Police Command on charges of allegedly murdering a 75-year-old spiritual healer and injuring three other individuals in Twifo Kwame Alerk, situated in the Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District of the Central Region.
Eyewitness reports indicate that the incident originated from a heated dispute between Twia and his father. This confrontation escalated into violence, during which Twia is said to have attacked his father with a machete, causing serious injuries to his neck, hands, and abdomen.
Following the assault on his father, the suspect reportedly roamed the community and encountered Ante Amataa, a prominent spiritual healer. He allegedly struck her multiple times with the machete, resulting in fatal injuries and her subsequent death.
After committing this horrific act, Twia fled into the nearby bush but later emerged to continue his violent rampage, attacking and injuring two additional individuals.
The sequence of violent incidents has left the community in a state of shock and fear, prompting an urgent public announcement that facilitated Twia’s rapid arrest by the officers of the Twifo Atti Morkwa District Police Command.
In light of these tragic events, Nana Kojo Damptey, the Linguist of Twifo Kwame Alerk, suggested that Twia’s behavior may have been influenced by substance abuse, noting that his typically calm demeanor was inconsistent with such violent actions.
The body of the deceased spiritual healer has been transported to the morgue at Twifo Praso Government Hospital, while the three injured victims are currently receiving medical care at the same facility.
Authorities have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the incident to ascertain the motive behind Twia’s actions and to ensure that justice is served.
