Asante Kotoko has officially announced the departure of head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, as confirmed in a statement released on Monday, April 21, 2025.
The statement indicated that the decision was reached “after constructive discussions between both parties, with a mutual understanding that this is in the best interest of the club at this time.”
Ogum’s departure follows Kotoko’s 2-0 loss to Nations FC on Sunday at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Stadium, marking the team’s second consecutive defeat.
The Porcupine Warriors have now gone four matches without a win in the Ghana Premier League.
Currently, Kotoko occupies the fourth position on the league table with 47 points, trailing league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars by six points.
This season, the team has recorded 13 victories, 8 draws, and 7 losses, scoring 28 goals while conceding 21, resulting in an average of 1.68 points per game.
Ogum, who previously led Kotoko to the Ghana Premier League title in 2022, returned for a second term in July 2023.
Under his guidance, the team finished sixth last season, amassing 49 points—12 points behind the eventual champions, FC Samartex 1996.
“We encourage our supporters to remain patient and continue their support for the club during this transition. Further updates will be provided in due course,” the statement concluded.
Kotoko will seek to recover when they take on Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Stadium on Matchday 29 this Sunday.
