Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has departed from Ghana to Guyana to participate in the events commemorating the country’s 60th Independence Anniversary.
The Vice President left Ghana on Sunday, May 24, representing Ghana at this significant national occasion being celebrated by the government and citizens of Guyana.
Upon her arrival, she was greeted by Nii Amasah Namoale, Ghana’s Ambassador to Brazil, along with members of the diplomatic team.
She was also received by Charles Ramson, Guyana’s Minister for Culture, Youth and Sport, as well as members of the Ghanaian community residing in Guyana, who gathered to welcome her.
This visit is part of ongoing efforts to enhance diplomatic relations and strengthen the historical connections between Ghana and Guyana, two nations that share deep cultural and historical ties rooted in African heritage.
The anniversary celebrations are expected to include a range of official state events, cultural exhibitions, and activities that highlight Guyana’s history, achievements, and future aspirations.
Ghana and Guyana have enjoyed friendly diplomatic relations over the years, with both nations continuously seeking opportunities for collaboration in various sectors of mutual interest.
Guyana, which achieved independence from British colonial rule in 1966, is celebrating sixty years of nationhood this year, with events attracting participation from leaders and representatives from around the globe.
