Supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) engaged in a confrontation in the Offinso North Constituency regarding the allocation of fertilizers in Akomadan.
According to reports, Fred Gyei Asamoah, the newly-elected Member of Parliament for the constituency representing the NPP, had pledged to distribute fertilizers to local farmers following the elections.
The fertilizers were delivered to the area prior to the elections, with the intention of distributing them to constituents once the election results were confirmed.
On Monday at approximately 8 a.m., a group of NDC supporters assembled at Akomadan Cocoa Shell, insisting that the NPP party officials release the fertilizers.
They contended that the fertilizers were intended for the farmers and should not be allocated based on party affiliation.
The dispute intensified, resulting in violence and the unfortunate death of an individual believed to be an NDC supporter. Authorities are currently investigating the incident as tensions in the constituency continue to escalate.
