Patrick Yaw Boamah, the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, has urged Christians to embrace peace and unity as the country approaches the Easter celebrations.
This heartfelt appeal was made during a donation event for the Christian Council of Ghana, where he contributed 1,000 packs of bottled water along with a significant, undisclosed monetary donation to aid the council’s Easter initiatives.
Mr. Boamah highlighted the importance of the Easter season, encouraging Ghanaians to remember the true meaning behind the holiday.
“We must keep in mind the purpose of this celebration and commemorate the most pivotal event in the history of salvation,” he stated, referring to the period that Christians recognize as the sacrificial death and glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ.
He also pointed out that Easter serves as a time for renewal and introspection for Christians.
“This is a moment for Christians to contemplate renewal following the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Such renewal should permeate every facet of our lives,” he remarked.
Rt Rev Dr Hilliard Dogbe, Chairman of the Christian Council of Ghana, expressed deep appreciation to the MP and his team for their timely assistance.
“This generous act conveys a powerful message of unity and love as we approach Easter,” he noted.
Also in attendance was Lt Col Justice Isaac Incoom, Secretary for Programmes at the Salvation Army Ghana, who referred to the donation as historic.
“In my view, this is a historic moment. While it is common for MPs and ministers to support Muslims during their fasting, I cannot recall a similar gesture during a significant Christian event. Therefore, I believe this is indeed historic,” he remarked.
The event included prayers, expressions of gratitude, and a renewed commitment to fostering peaceful coexistence during the Easter season and beyond.
