The newly appointed Executive Secretary of the Ghana International Trade Commission, Mavis Adjei-Kwaa, has pledged to implement initiatives aimed at enhancing local industries and facilitating their production at more affordable prices.
She emphasized that supporting local industries will be one of her primary objectives to foster fair competition within the domestic business landscape.
These commitments were made following a brief meeting with GITC staff as she officially commenced her role as Executive Secretary on Tuesday, April 15.
“We will strive to align our efforts with the president’s mandate to bolster local businesses. I intend to collaborate with the Minister for Trade and Agribusiness to advise the president on potential tax revisions, enabling our businesses to compete effectively with international counterparts,” she stated to the press.
The GITC has been instrumental in advocating for equitable trade practices between local enterprises and their foreign counterparts.
The appointment of Mavis Adjei-Kwaa as Executive Secretary marks a significant advancement in enhancing the Commission’s operations since its inception a few years ago.
During a welcoming address for the new Executive Secretary, Bernard Manu Afreh, Head of Research and Planning at the GITC, expressed commitment to supporting government initiatives aimed at transforming Ghanaian industries.
The team welcomed Mavis Adjei with a tour of several key policy departments.
