On Thursday, May 15, 2025, the Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, welcomed H.E. Virginia Palmer, the United States Ambassador to Ghana, at his office in Accra. This visit was part of Ambassador Palmer’s farewell activities as she officially concluded her tenure in Ghana.
The discussions between the two officials focused on enhancing bilateral relations and fostering cooperation in areas of common interest.
Minister Muntaka Mubarak praised Ambassador Palmer for her outstanding service and contributions to the Ministry and its agencies, highlighting the advancements made in U.S.-Ghana relations during her leadership.
‘Ambassador Palmer has been a genuine ally in our collective effort to advance peace, security, and good governance. Her time in office has fostered significant collaboration between our nations, particularly in the security domain,’ the Minister remarked.
In response, Ambassador Palmer conveyed her gratitude for the fruitful partnership and reiterated the U.S. government’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Ministry of the Interior and the Government of Ghana. ‘It has been a privilege to serve in Ghana.
The strength of our partnership has been profoundly encouraging, and I am optimistic that it will continue to strengthen,’ she stated. The meeting underscored the lasting relationship between Ghana and the United States, founded on mutual respect and shared objectives.
