Dennis Miracles Aboagye, an aide to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has stated that his recent detention by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has only reinforced his determination to run for the position of NPP National Communications Director.
In a statement released on Wednesday, July 15, following his release, Miracles expressed his gratitude to all NPP supporters for their unwavering support during his detention, asserting that he remains steadfast and prepared to serve the party.
“I am out. I am unbroken. And I am more ready than ever. Thank you, patriots!”
Aboagye noted that he was apprehended and detained by EOCO just one day after he publicly declared his intention to contest for the NPP National Communications Director role.
He claimed that misleading information was disseminated regarding the circumstances of his arrest but insisted that the truth would ultimately come to light.
“Four days ago, just one day after I announced my intention to serve our great party as National Communications Director, I was taken into custody by EOCO. A false narrative was circulated about my arrest, but Ghanaians are not naive, and neither are the loyal members of the New Patriotic Party. The facts and the truth will prevail!!”
In response to reports linking him to an alleged GH¢55 million issue, Aboagye denied ever being questioned by EOCO regarding such an amount.
“FOR THE RECORD: THERE WAS NO DISCUSSION OF ANY GH¢55 million cedis with me by EOCO. None!!!”
He also expressed his appreciation to NPP members and supporters who publicly rallied in solidarity with him during his time in custody, stating that their actions provided him with strength.
“To every party loyalist who took to the streets, who raised their voices, who refused to remain silent, I saw you. I heard you. From my detention, I was informed of your protests, and it kept my spirit strong. You did not merely defend Dennis Miracles Aboagye; you defended the principle that no voice can be silenced through intimidation.”
Aboagye asserted that the detention had not deterred him and pledged to continue his campaign for the party’s communications portfolio.
“Let me clarify: if the goal was to break my spirit, it has not succeeded. If the aim was to instill fear in me, it has failed dramatically. I will guide the New Patriotic Party’s Communications Directorate to shape the narrative, and no prison, no fabricated story, nor intimidation will alter that.”
He further stated that this experience had only strengthened his resolve.
