President John Dramani Mahama, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, has urged newly commissioned officers to embody the principles of responsibility, integrity, and professionalism as they embark on their military careers.
This appeal was made during his address to the graduating officer cadets at the Ghana Military Academy on Friday, April 11. The ceremony signified the formal transition of the cadets into commissioned officers within the Ghana Armed Forces.
In his speech, President Mahama highlighted the significant expectations the nation holds for these officers and encouraged them to fulfill their roles as the future leaders of the military.
“Graduating cadets, today marks the commencement of a new chapter in your lives. You are no longer officer cadets; you are about to become officers of the Ghana Armed Forces. The nation looks to you with hope, expectations, and confidence. You are integral to the future of the Ghana Armed Forces, and your actions will influence the destiny of our country.
“Leadership is not defined by rank or privilege; it is characterized by responsibility and service. I urge you to embody integrity, courage, and compassion. Strive to be officers who inspire loyalty and earn respect while upholding the highest standards of professionalism,” he remarked.
The President underscored the importance of the Ghana Armed Forces in preserving peace and stability, asserting that those in leadership positions must demonstrate exemplary behavior and a profound sense of national duty.
The commissioning parade was attended by senior military officials, government representatives, diplomats, and the families of the graduates. The event showcased military drills and traditions that celebrated the cadets’ successful completion of their training.
