President John Dramani Mahama has joined fellow African leaders in Nairobi, Kenya, to take part in the Africa Forward Summit, a high-level meeting focused on the France-Africa partnership aimed at sustainable development, economic resilience, and global cooperation.
A statement released by the Presidency indicated that the Summit, organized by Emmanuel Macron, has convened African Heads of State, global business leaders, and international partners to enhance collaboration on critical development priorities throughout the continent.
The statement noted that President Mahama, who holds the position of African Union Champion for African Financial Institutions, will participate in a high-level discussion on green industrialization and energy transition on Tuesday.
This session is anticipated to examine strategies for accelerating Africa’s industrial growth while addressing the challenges posed by climate change and the global shift toward clean energy.
Later in the day, President Mahama is set to engage in a working lunch focused on reforming the international financial architecture.
According to the statement, the discussion will focus on enhancing African nations’ access to sustainable financing and ensuring that the global financial system becomes more equitable and responsive to the continent’s development needs.
Additionally, President Mahama is expected to co-chair a roundtable discussion on health, themed: “Rethinking global health and building resilient national health systems.”
The Presidency stated that this engagement is part of the Accra Reset Initiative aimed at strengthening healthcare systems and enhancing resilience against future global health challenges.
On the sidelines of the Summit, President Mahama is scheduled to conduct bilateral meetings with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, IMF Chief Kristalina Georgieva, and Alvaro Lario, President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
These meetings are anticipated to focus on global cooperation, economic stability, and food security in Ghana and throughout Africa.
