The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has urged the youth of Bawku to promote peace, promising them preferential treatment in police recruitment as part of initiatives aimed at restoring tranquility in the conflict-affected region.
During his visit to Bawku on Friday, April 11, IGP Yohuno acknowledged the commitment and resilience of the local population, stating that a dedicated recruitment team would be sent to the area to create opportunities specifically for its young residents.
“In terms of recruitment, we will prioritize the people of Bawku. The youth of Bawku will be given special consideration, and therefore, a dedicated team will come here to conduct targeted recruitment for them,” he remarked.
IGP Yohuno also conveyed his willingness to collaborate closely with the community, encouraging residents to voice any concerns or errors made by the police.
He assured them that prompt corrective measures would be implemented to foster trust and enhance cooperation.
“I recognize the industrious nature of the people from this region. Therefore, we kindly ask you to inform us of any missteps so we can swiftly address them and ensure that you continue to work effectively with our personnel.
“If we have erred in any way, we ask for your forgiveness. We will strive to avoid repeating those mistakes,” he concluded.
