President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his dedication to implementing stringent penalties for appointees who breach the Code of Conduct for public officials.
The Code of Conduct, which was published on Tuesday, May 6, is an integral part of the government’s comprehensive strategy to foster professionalism, civility, and ethical governance within public service.
In his address to the nation on Wednesday, May 7, President Mahama emphasized that any violations by his appointees would result in decisive disciplinary measures.
‘I have made it abundantly clear to my appointees that I will act swiftly and decisively if they violate any of these regulations,’ he cautioned.
The Code of Conduct specifies particular ethical standards, including a prohibition on utilizing public funds for the purchase of hampers during holiday seasons and receiving gifts exceeding GHC20,000.00.
Its purpose is to avert waste, enhance integrity, and strengthen public confidence in the government.
