The Accra High Court has amended the bail conditions for Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), lowering it from GHS120 million to GHS80 million.
In contrast, his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, remains under a bail requirement of GHS80 million, which necessitates the provision of two sureties whose justifications must be established.
Both individuals are required to report to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) three times a week.
Furthermore, their travel is restricted, necessitating explicit permission from EOCO for any journeys.
The couple was detained following an EOCO investigation into allegations of embezzlement, fraud, and unlawful financial activities.
Adu-Boahene, who held the position of NSB Director-General from 2017 until February 2025, is accused of misappropriating millions of Ghanaian cedis in state funds for personal use.
In response to the court’s decision, the couple’s attorney, Samuel Atta Akyea, conveyed a sense of optimism that his client would be able to fulfill the updated bail requirements.
