The Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council has made notable advancements through the government’s District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), improving around 80 kilometers of roads in five district assemblies.
The initiative, which started in July, seeks to provide Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) with the necessary resources and tools for the rehabilitation and maintenance of local road networks.
During a site visit, Regional Coordinator of the DRIP project, Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey, observed that the programme has greatly improved roads in communities like Awoshie, Sowutuom, and Amasaman, making them accessible and passable.
When we visited Weija-Gbawe in Ga South, they provided us with a distance of 26 kilometers. We are currently at Ga West, where they have allocated us around 18 kilometers. We were discussing a distance of 12 kilometers when we headed to Ga North.
DRIP has also made improvements in other areas, bringing the total amount of road completed to nearly 80 kilometers over the past three to four months, which is a remarkable achievement.
