The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has declared its intention to initiate an indefinite strike starting Thursday, January 2, 2025.
This announcement was made following an Emergency National Council meeting convened on Monday, December 30, 2024.
In a statement released on December 31, CETAG clarified that this decision stems from previous strike notices issued on September 26, 2024, and December 23, 2024, which the National Labour Commission (NLC) has not addressed.
CETAG emphasized that this course of action is necessitated by the government’s ongoing breach of signed agreements and the failure to implement the compulsory arbitration award issued by the NLC on May 2, 2023.

The National Council of CETAG firmly asserts that its members will not return to their respective colleges to perform any official duties, including teaching, supervising project work, or macro-teaching, until all outstanding payments are received. This declaration of an indefinite strike is in accordance with Section 159 of the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651).
