The Member of Parliament representing Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has announced the filing of a Writ of Summons against Bernard Bediako Baidoo, Member of Parliament for Akwatia, and broadcaster Abubakar Alhassan, commonly referred to as Blakk Rasta, in response to what he characterizes as defamatory statements directed toward him.
In a formal statement issued on Monday, September 28, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah indicated that legal proceedings were initiated against both individuals for allegedly disseminating false information concerning his character.
The Manhyia South legislator identified Bernard Bediako Baidoo, the Akwatia Member of Parliament, and Abubakar Alhassan, known professionally as Blakk Rasta, as the defendants in this legal action.
“I have, on this 28th day of September 2026, initiated a Writ of Summons against the following individuals for disseminating false statements regarding my person,” he declared.
The Manhyia South representative emphasized that he had deliberately opted to pursue this matter through civil litigation rather than initiating criminal proceedings regarding the alleged dissemination of false information.
“In contrast to the government’s approach, I have adopted the democratic course of action by seeking redress through the civil courts rather than pursuing criminal charges for the publication of false information,” he explained.
His decision to pursue legal action emerges from an ongoing controversy concerning the alleged detention of Madam Salomey Awiti Baffoe and Camilla Alhassan.
According to the Member of Parliament, both women are presently held in police custody following what he characterized as an effort by state security personnel to intimidate and suppress his advocacy.
He asserted that Salomey Baffoe was “abducted by state security personnel” during the late evening hours of Saturday and continues to remain in police custody.
Baffour Awuah reaffirmed his commitment that the alleged intimidation tactics would not discourage him from continuing his efforts.
“Notwithstanding the foregoing, I wish to emphasize that the government’s attempt to intimidate and suppress my efforts in advocating for the impoverished mother of three minor children who was abducted by state security personnel and remains in police custody has proven unsuccessful.”
The Member of Parliament affirmed that his primary objective continues to be the procurement of the two women’s freedom and enabling their restoration to their respective families.
“My commitment persists in advocating for the liberation of Madam Salomey Awiti Bafoh and Camilla Alhassan, to facilitate their reunion with their families who are awaiting their homecoming.”
