President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his administration’s commitment to fighting corruption by announcing an independent audit of the National Cathedral project, which was initiated by the former Akufo-Addo government.
In a national address on May 7, marking his first 120 days in office, President Mahama disclosed that the global audit firm Deloitte has been commissioned to conduct an audit of this contentious project.
He stated, ‘The fight against corruption remains relentless.
Deloitte and Touche is performing an independent audit of the National Cathedral project, and I anticipate their report by the end of this month [May].’
Furthermore, President Mahama revealed that investigations are underway regarding other government projects, including the organization of the 13th African Games.
‘Several officials have been summoned and interrogated concerning the 13th Africa Games,’ he noted.
These initiatives are part of the broader anti-corruption and accountability strategies that Mahama pledged during his campaign and reaffirmed at the outset of his presidency.
